Wishing Well Park Receives Significant Donor Support from Two Local Organizations

During a formal ceremony held at the beginning of the first Salisbury Homeowners Association

(“SHOA”) Friday Fiesta on Friday, April 29 th , representatives of the Salisbury Mothers Club

(“SMC”), and representatives from SHOA presented Project SWING with generous contributions

toward its Wishing Well Park refurbishment efforts. SMC presented Project SWING with a check

in the amount of $7,500, and SHOA presented Project SWING with a check representing its

$50,000 commitment toward the Park refurbishment. SHOA’s commitment includes an initial

$25,000 gift, with the second $25,000 to be contributed once Project SWING reaches $200,000

in fundraising dollars.

Project SWING’s fundraising efforts, which began in earnest just a couple of months before the

start of the COVID shut-down in March 2020, have not been without their challenges. Although

SHOA committed $50,000 in Association funds to Project SWING at the inception of this

fundraising campaign, SHOA tabled their commitment as Project SWING paused its fundraising

efforts during the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021.

As Project SWING resumed fundraising in late 2021, however, this community’s affection for

Wishing Well Park and its commitment to seeing the Park’s refurbishment through to fruition

were apparent in the outpouring of support and generosity. Between December 2021 and

March 2022, Project SWING more than doubled its fundraising dollars, prompting SHOA to

renew its $50,000 commitment.

Meanwhile, COVID actually enabled the Salisbury Mothers Club to commit additional funds to

Project SWING! While the Club spent the entire membership year of September 2020 through

May 2021 as a “virtual” club, members still hosted their annual donation and fundraising drives,

such as their luminary sales - the Club’s largest source of revenue. Although the Club operated

as usual this past meeting year (September 2021 through May 2022), expenditures were

drastically reduced during the first 18 months. Between reduced expenditures and two straight

years of exceptionally successful luminary sales, the Club’s account was very robust. So robust,

in fact, that SMC leadership made the decision to increase Project SWING’s donation by 50%,

just hours before the check donation ceremony.

Between the $25,000 donation from SHOA, the $2500 increase in Salisbury Mothers Club’s

commitment, and its ongoing fundraising efforts, as of May 2022 Project SWING has quite

nearly reached $150,000 in funds raised. With continued community support, we look forward

to reaching the $200,000 benchmark, and ultimately, the goal of a vibrant neighborhood

gathering space for neighbors of all ages, where our children can play and our community can

gather for years to come.
